This past week we celebrated the Nativity (birthday) of the Blessed Virgin Mary. It simply amazes me the way that God’s plan has played out in human history, with just a little meditation, it’s not difficult to see very clearly God’s never ending desire to love us and save us. To have a God who cares so much for us and never gives up on us is worthy of much thanksgiving and gratitude on our part!
After the fall of Adam and Eve, although God kept His promise that if they ate from the forbidden fruit, they would surely die, God never gave up on us. He set into motion His Divine Plan of salvation by which man would be reconciled back to Him. Physical death would still occur in this world, but, eternal life would be available to us, once again. God became flesh and dwelt among us. He took our sins upon His shoulders and carried them to the Cross. Through Christ’s Resurrection and Ascension, the gates of Heaven are now open to those who want God and choose Him for life!
For Christ Jesus to be born, a suitable woman had to be chosen. A little girl in Nazareth is born to a childless couple (Anne and Joachim), set apart, by her very birth, conceived without original sin ( Immaculate Conception) to bring to its finality the Divine Plan of God—man’s salvation!
As a person of Faith, the only response I can give is “Wow”, “Thank You” Lord for finding value in me and wanting me to be with You forever! May I be found truly worthy. All things have a plan and purpose in God. God is the Author of life and the Savior of our souls. While we walk this earth, our free will must engage God with joy, obedience and faithfulness. Through the Blessed Mother’s great “fiat” (Her yes to God) we have Heaven at our disposal, if we choose it by the worthy conduct of our life.
Thank you Mary for saying “yes” and cooperating with Heavenly Father’s Divine Plan for us. Thank You, Jesus, for walking among us and dying on the cross, shedding Your Blood for our salvation. Thank You Almighty God for this great and Holy Faith we call Catholic. It all boggles the mind, yet, quickens the spirit. What else can you say but, “Wow”!
