I’m often asked where the Apostles went and how did they die after Christ’s Ascension into Heaven. Of course, they followed the command of Jesus to go out to the whole world and bring it the Good News. So, here is what we know:
+Peter: First Pope. He was married. He preached the Gospel in Palestine, Asia Minor and was the first bishop of Rome. He died in 67 AD at the age of 70 by crucifixion upside down.
+Andrew: Was not married. He preached the Gospel in Asia Minor and Greece where he died in 69 AD at the age of 65 by crucifixion.
+Simon: He preached the Gospel in Egypt, North Africa, Britain and Iran. He died in 79 AD in his 70’s by mutilation.
+Thaddeus (Jude): He wrote the Letter of St. Jude. He was martyred in 79 AD while in his mid 70’s by being impaled.
+Judas Iscariot: Died in 33 AD in his thirties. He committed suicide for what he did to Jesus.
+Matthias: He preached in Palestine and Armenia. He died in 51 AD in his 40’s by being stoned to death
+Thomas: Not married. He preached in Egypt and India where he died in 72 AD in his late 60’s by being stabbed or flayed to death.
+Matthew: Author of the Gospel of Matthew. He died in 90 AD at the age of 90 while preaching in Ethiopia and Iran. He died a natural death.
+James the Lesser: He was the bishop of Jerusalem and authored the Book of James. He died in 62 AD at the age of 60 by being stoned to death.
+James the Greater: Was the Bishop of Tiberias, dying in 40 AD. He was 42 and was martyred by decapitation.
+John the Beloved: Preached in Asia Minor, author of the Gospel of John and the Book of Revelations. He died in 100 AD as the age of 97 of natural causes.
+Phillip: He was married and preached in Asia Minor and North Africa. He died in 90 AD at the age of 87 by crucifixion.
+Nathaniel: Peached in Asia Minor and Central India. He died in 62 AD a the age of 67 by being flayed and crucified.
+Paul: Died in 67 AD in his 70’s by being beheaded while in prison in Rome.
+Luke: Preached in Syria, dying in 84 AD of natural causes. He wrote the Gospel of Luke and the Acts of the Apostle.
+Mark: Author of the Gospel of Mark. He accompanied Paul on his journeys and died in 68 AD by execution.
