Our Guardian Angels

This past week we celebrated the Feasts of the Archangels Gabriel, Raphael and Michael.  This week we celebrate the Guardian Angels and God’s love for each of us to assign a personal (Guardian) angel to guide and protect us.

What or who are the Guardian Angels?  At the moment of our conception, in our mother’s womb, God gives to each soul a personal angel to guide us in life.  They help to guide our conscience, protect us from harm, influence good behavior and help us to reject that which can do us harm or make us sin.  They can also assist us in moments of temptation and help our souls to be more holy, our bodies to be more pure and chaste, and our minds to think positively about God and our Faith.

Remember that angels are pure spirts (they have no physical bodies), created by God before this world was ever formed, and exist to serve God and, through His will, serve creation and man.  That God cares about us so much as to give us a personal angel, is quite the blessing.  My Guardian Angel has kept me safe from harm and temptations on many occasions.  So, I bare my testimony to the truth of this teaching.  In addition, not only do our personal angels help us while we live our daily life, they are there to assist us at the hour of our death.  God’s plan for us is so awesome, isn’t it?

So, pray to your Guardian Angels in your times of need and strife.  They hover about us.  Thank Jesus for such a gift.  Not only do we have Mary and Joseph and all the Saints and Martyrs to intercede for us, we also have a Guardian (personal) Angel to guide us.  Wow!  Below is the prayer to your Guardian Angel—So, pray it!

        Guardian Angel Prayer

Angel of God, my guardian dear,
to whom God's love commits me here,
ever this day be at my side,
to light and guard, to rule and guide.
        Amen.
