Memorial Day conjures up the first official barbeque of the summer. Hopefully, warm weather and gatherings top the day off.
But, Memorial Day was instituted as a way of honoring all our fallen soldiers throughout our history, who gave their last breath as a sacrifice for our freedom. It is also a way to prayerfully remember the fallen, and rightly, those who serve us abroad and here at home. We also remember their families who shared and share in this sacrifice!
In our bulletin are the names of at least 3 people who serve in the military from our parish:
Lance Corporal Hayden Brisinte, USMC
PFC Ethan Chance Willy , USMC
Captain Paul Klotz, Army National Guard
Please pray for them and their safe return to us and their loved ones who wait for such a return. Let us never forget the sacrifice of those who chose to serve this great country. We hold in our memory the great and small, the proud and heroic, the living and mainly, the dead.
So, enjoy the “official” start to summer. But, don’t forget why we celebrate this day. Those who gave the last measure, so that we could be free! Thank you to you all!
