May Crowning

Next Sunday marks the first Sunday of May which is traditionally referred to as the month of Mary, our Blessed Mother. In lieu of the Saint Joseph Litany, we will honor our Blessed Lady with a May crowning at each weekend Mass. The blessing of the statue of our Lady invokes Her intercession and prayers for us, our families, friends, our Church, and nation. As She is the Patron Saint of our country, we turn to Her to throw Her mantle of love and protection over us as She guides us ever closer to Her Son, Jesus Christ.

What a great gift the Blessed Mother is to us. She is a sign of charity, purity, obedience, humility, and faithfulness. These are signs for us as well. We can always trust that Mary walks with us and will plead our case as we journey through life.

So, during this month of May, we dedicate ourselves to Mary’s maternal care. Let us commit to saying the Rosary often, if not daily. Let us bind ourselves to each other in the Holy Rosary. With Mary to guide us to Her Son’s open arms, how can we go wrong?
