I was driving in Rockford last week to visit another priest, when in the neighborhood I was going through, to my left, was a large group of wild turkeys.  I don’t usually see that in the city, but, it did make my mouth water as I had a vision of a big turkey leg and a heaping helping of mashed potatoes, gravy and stuffing to go with it!  Yum!

 As we near this national holiday of Giving Thanks, we do it mindfully with God as our enveloping thought!  Let us pray for each other, our families and friends, and our country.  Let us never forget to give thanks to God for all our blessings, great and small.  God is so gracious and generous.  His example calls us to be the same.

When you gather together on Thanksgiving, pray for peace, and also, for all those who are absent from our tables!  May God continue to bless our country and each and everyone of us.  Happy Thanksgiving.
