Happy Easter

Easter morning brings back many memories from earlier days.  The thing I remember most about Easter is the great big basket of candies I got.  Of course, with 7 other brothers and sisters, comparisons as to how much we got were common place.  Trading black jelly beans for yellow ones ruled the day.  Even the coloring on the eggs was open to great scrutiny and debate.  But in the end one thing resulted:  a stomach ache!!!

Easter is about the Resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead—it is the holiest of all days for the Christian.  All the goodies and beautiful Easter colors are reminders of new life, of spring, but most of all the gift of Eternal Life.  Easter was one of the few days the whole family would go to church.  And coming home to a huge meal of ham, mashed potatoes, gravy and apple pies topped off a wonderful day.

So, after church as you sit around the table to eat, don’t forget to pray and give thanks to God for His great acts of love.  He loves us and desires that all be with Him in Heaven—our duty is to live with His law on earth so we can meet such a result.  I wish you a wonderful and blessed Easter Season.  You are always remembered in my prayers and daily Masses.  Thank you for all you do to make St. Joseph a mirror of Christ to the city of Richmond.  God bless you!
