Epiphany

This celebration of the Three Wise Men punctuates the close of the Christmas Holy Days.  The Three Kings are called “wise”, because they sought wisdom from God as to the signs of the times.  What did God have in store for us?  How would God manifest Himself to us?  Where could we look for God and would we find Him?  These basic questions of wisdom and faith are fundamental to our soul.  The “wise men” sought God and found Him.  They paid attention to the “signs” God had sent to man, then pursued the path to the Child Jesus.  Their wisdom is an example to you and me.  Wisdom comes from God and gives humanity focus and direction.

Suffice it to say, wisdom, wisdom figures, and seeking out God’s advice, seem to be in short supply.  However, God’s wisdom blesses our endeavors.  When we wish to be wise, we don’t rely on human knowledge alone.  God’s focus, God’s purposes, God’s thoughts, God’s commands—all of these are made clear to us through our prayer, the Scriptures and in the Holy Mass!  God’s wisdom is genuine comfort and can soothe the weary mind and soul!

Never be afraid to seek God’s advice for your life.  Seek Him in all matters of life; not only in matters of faith.  God likes it when we seek Him out.  You know why, because He wants to be “FOUND” by us.  Godly wisdom becomes the first steps to our heavenly home.
